Under the Rainbow is a Christian ministry based in Glasgow, Scotland. They provide support and resources for those who have struggled with miscarriage or infant death, infertility and the process of adoption.
We have supported the work of Under the Rainbow for a number of years, developing their brand identity, producing a range of promotional materials and adverts, and designing their website.
Under the Rainbow requirements
The Under the Rainbow website style was last updated in 2013. As such, it didn’t display well on mobile devices, particularly phones. With accessibility now a legal requirement, we suggested updating it.
Solutions
Website
The existing website is built using the WordPress content management system (CMS). We selected and installed an up to date theme to change the look and feel of the website.
In addition, we used the Elementor plugin to create an engaging homepage and landing pages for each section. The aim is to guide users to the content most relevant to them.
The client knows how to use WordPress and has been adding content to the website for many years. We ran a short training session to introduce new editing options and to provide an overview on the use of Elementor.
We also supported the client with sourcing and purchasing new hosting for their website.
We incorporated website tracking using Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager and Hotjar, and developed a reporting dashboard with Google Data Studio.
Under the Rainbow YouTube channel
The Under the Rainbow website also features a number of video testimonials. These fed in from a range of platforms under different user accounts.
We worked with the client to consolidate the different videos under one new YouTube channel for Under the Rainbow. We used YouTube as there is no upload limits on free accounts.
WordPress allows for the simple embedding of YouTube videos. Storing them on this service cuts down on the amount of memory used by the website and ensures smooth playback for users.
